National Conference Trio Sworm In as Rajya Sabha Members

Srinagar / Ishfaq Wagay :- Jammu and Kashmir regained its representation in the Rajya Sabha after nearly five years, as all three newly elected National Conference leaders took oath as members of the Upper House of Parliament on Monday, the opening day of the Winter Session.

Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Shammi Oberoi and Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo were administered the oath by Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan.

Their swearing-in marks Jammu and Kashmir’s formal return to Rajya Sabha proceedings after a prolonged hiatus following the reorganisation of the erstwhile state and the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

MP Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan took his oath in the Kashmiri language, highlighting the linguistic and cultural identity of the region.

The three leaders were elected in the Rajya Sabha polls held on October 24 for the four seats allocated to the Union Territory.
