A special treat for film enthusiasts in Pune's pleasant winter during the film festival

* 24th PIFF Film Festival Pune

Mumbai / Ms. Aditi Karan Samarth :- For over two decades, every year in the pleasant January weather of Pune, the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) is organized jointly by the Pune Film Foundation, the Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of Maharashtra, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari.  This festival offers film enthusiasts a feast of high-quality and unique films from various countries around the world.

This year, the 24th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) will enthrall audiences with its diverse programs from January 15th to 22nd, 2026, across ten different cinemas in Pune.

This year, PIFF has organized a special program to commemorate the birth centenary of the legend filmmaker, director, and actor Guru Dutt. Paying tribute to Guru Dutt is the theme of this year's PIFF. Along with the world cinema competition and Marathi films, there will be a special screening of Guru Dutt's films, informed Dr. Jabbar Patel, the director of the PIFF festival.

The legend born on July 9, 1925, in Bengaluru, Guru Dutt, whose real name was Vasant Kumar Shivashankar Padukone, was a legendary writer, producer, director, actor, and dance master of Indian cinema.  His passion for cinema led him to make Mumbai and Pune his centers of activity. In his short life of just forty years, he left an indelible mark on Indian cinema with his artistically brilliant films. The Indian government's postal department even issued a special postage stamp on his birth centenary. Tragically, due to mental health issues and professional struggles, he ended his life on October 10, 1964. PIFF pays its heartfelt tribute to this great filmmaker, Guru Dutt.
